Hello everyone. Wow it's been a while since i have posted on here. But I have been busy finshing high school and looking for colleges to go to. I have finaly decided to go to Columbia College in chicago and study in their film department.
But on to the real point of the topic. Now that I have a little more free time I am looking to presue some film projects that other wise i didn't have anytime for.
In one inparticualar I am looking to achive some fluid smooth shots. I have a steady cam and that takes care of 90% of that but for some tracking shots, I was wonder if anyone knew some cheap "guerilla" methods of attaining these shots? My initial thought was to plop my camera onto a wheele chair. This is still my best possobility, but does anyone have any other possable better suggestions?
Thanks

You should mention the size & weight of the camera you plan on using.
And, is a fixed wide-angle lens acceptable for your purposes?

For my short I am currently in pre-pro on, I am doing the following. This is for an indoor, low angle move, covering about 40 feet.
I have a MANFROTTO basic head connected directly to my MANFROTTO tripod dolly - but no tripod.
This means my lens is only about a foot and a half off the ground. Pretty low. But because it's a tripod dolly, the wheels require ultra smooth surface. This works because the entire movement is on my bare hardwood floors.
This is going to be done on super 8 film. So I have to either wrap a thick, strong rubber band around camera trigger or something similar. I don't have remote cable release. Haven't done it yet, but so far, there's every indication of flawless execution.
